Cougars 5 v Meadow Sports 0
A fixture that should have been highly competitive but unfortunately our Achilles heel keeps re -surfacing
We could not afford to start like we did against Walton Casuals the week before nor can a negative attitude permeate be allowed on the pitch. But we did again find ourselves 3 nil down and suffering from both within the first 20 minutes.
There was no cohesion or possession with pressure being put straight back onto our back four who could not deal with the pace of all their forwards and with no protection they punished us accordingly.
Ref missed the penalty that might have possibly galvanized the boys just before half time but this was missed along with a number of niggly shoving and pulling.
Second half a procession of injuries with Ben having concussion from a corner thankfully did not have to go to hospital.
There are no excuse tactics and initial line up were discussed at length before the game.
Cougars looked in a different league from start to finish, they also mentally outplayed us by playing up there football verbally on and off the ball and took full advantage of our own poor mindset.
There has to be a change in the boys that we are there from the outset to play and enjoy competitive football. They have to play hard, enjoy it and become a cohesive unit to compete together as a team.
Man of the match - Dan who at times kept the score line down brave stops
